First time using ebay

Today's the first time I went out into the "unknown". Never tried ebay before though I have heard so much about this great website. Even heard from a friend that he bid items and then sells it off at a profit. Why is it so hard for me to even understand the basic steps in making one single bid?

Well.. I've been looking for a guitar for quite a while now and I saw on a website selling the guitar I want for just $100 AUD. It is very much cheaper than in Singapore but still was a little pricey. My friend then suggested I try out ebay instead. I found the one I really liked though it came with a bulky amplifier. Probably would sell that one off or give it to someone. Anyway, I was trying to bid it and then came the first problem. It needed a landline to verify. i didn't have one since I'm only a student here. I went out of my room, saw my housemate and asked if I could borrow hers, she didn't even think and immediately told me no problem. First hurdle over.

Then I bid and it said I was out bid.. So I didn't get the bid? But the bid history didn't say much... What does it mean? I don't quite get it. I tried a second time and the same note. I think... I'd just stick to that for a while. Probably the old fashion going to shops for goods is better for someone like me. (I think I know why, probably I really am giving a price too low haha)...
